Dear Readers,

We’re pleased to announce that we will be launching a free 4 class program at no cost to test our new online program. We have 12 online subscribers who offered to test the program. We’re looking for 20 subscribers to complete the trial. The program launch was delayed to after the holidays due to some issues with the back end of the program.
If you wish to sign up, please reply to this post.
The subscribers who confirm their participation will receive a password on Jan 10th, 2010.
The program is designed for adults who wish to develop or start learning Portuguese at the conversation level. Our program includes soap operas, songs, videos and more to ensure we’re not teaching merely sentences, repetition of content like the most expensive programs in the market do. We want to ensure we’re teaching live language in a fun and effective way.
I will be personally conducting the research and teaching the four classes!

Please spread the word and bring more people to try our new program!

Abraços,
Claudia Krusch

When I finished my bachelors at Unifacs in Brazil, I thought, one day I will be teaching as many people as I can about my passion…..foreign languages and that will inspire, especially children, to spark some interest for this amazing new world!

Well, some years later and more than 200 students later,  for three foreign languages, I surprisingly had my goal revised and expanded this month.

A parent from South Africa contacted me to teach their children Brazilian Portuguese, I was so excited, especially because our online classes had never reached anybody further than PA. Needless to say, we will start classes soon!  The internet surpasses all the boundaries of service offering and demand…..the possibilities are endless….

We were also pleasantly surprised to have added three new centers to our locations where classes are offered, only now this time the classes will be offered to senior citizens. The old concept that you can’t learn a language after a certain age was demolished by our Spanish made Fun ™ Program, where seniors learn in whole different way…….through activities they enjoy!

The next time you make an excuse for trying to learn a foreign language, think twice!

For more information on senior programs and online classes, please contact me directly here on the website.

Hasta Luego,

Dear Readers,

I came across this info through another list serve and I thought it would bring an interesting discussion here on this blog.

The Portuguese Government recently approved changes on the spelling of European Portuguese to change the spelling of many words into the Brazilian Portuguese spelling. I personally think the European Portuguese was lost in time, changes were past due, but changes which would reflect their own reality, not converting to the spelling of another country.

We linguists know that there’s no better or worse version of a language, just diversity and different dialects which are products of environment, space, time, people.

Variables which are specific to each country where the language is spoken. You might say this is orthography only. Regardless, apparently this is a major reform which will, in my opinion, bring confusion to language professionals who work with European Portuguese.

What do you think? Does anybody else have any information on this topic?

I would be interested in learning more.

Any readers work in Europe?
