Dear Members,

I have decided to add this song, which is very interesting, melody is upbeat but the words bring a very strong feeling of rabia, hate….

I used this song in Spanish Classes to teach Past Tense; music is a great tool to bring the foreign language closer to students, I would highly recommend if you haven’t used it!

The video is really interesting, I hope you enjoy it!

Dear Members and lovers of Brazilian Culture and music,

Brazilian Music is known all over the world for its rhythm and “ginga”, something different that I can’t describe, which makes it so unique.

I was extremely blessed  in the beginning of 2001 to be invited to participate with a program in a musician’s tech school, where I instructed them in Portuguese Language. It was a wonderful thing to arrive at Pracatum, founded by the musician Carlinhos Brown and listen to the rhythms and sounds still in the making which soon would become the “batuque” of the upcoming carnival.

My students were extremely gifted in many ways and I still cherish my memories and all the lessons they taught me.

We will start a new category where we will post Brazilian songs regularly with lyrics and videos, when possible.

I hope you enjoy it!

Regards,

Claudia Krusch

Dear Members,

Researching the topic to be able to educate parents when they call about our new offering, sign language classes, I found out that many studies show that sign language introduced in early age can offer some benefits:

Earlier communication with your child. Some children learn to sign as early as 7 or 8 months much earlier than a typical baby learns to talk!
Babies who can communicate through sign are often much happier babies and toddlers which translates into a happier YOU!
Babies who can sign have shown less frustration and have fewer tantrums overall, since they can usually communicate their needs better.
Studies have shown that babies who learned sign as infants had a higher IQ overall than babies who didn’t learn sign.
Children who have learned sign have been shown to have more advanced language skills than children who have not learned sign.
Signing in the classroom has led to improved math scores among students.
Learning sign language at an early age helps develop the brain in the critical early years of language development.
Signing with your child provides a unique bonding experience between you and your child.
Signing opens the doors to wonderful friendships with those who use ASL as their primary language.
Signing helps promote self-esteem in children.
You would be surprised at how often knowing sign language really comes in handy for both you and your child!
And more….. Signing is FUN for the whole family!!!!!
